The Dr. Betty Shabazz Delta Academy provides young ladies in middle school grades 6, 7, & 8 ages 11, 12, 13, or 14 years with the opportunity to develop leadership skills to gain sense of personal growth and confidence while discovering their brilliance. Various workshops and activities are provided that will educate, but also provide fun through learning. An integral part of our program includes community service projects which provide hands-on experience with serving others in our community and to help develop interpersonal skills and collaborative learning.

We have found that the key to a successful Delta Academy program is strong parental involvement. This includes providing transportation for your daughter to and from events; committing to her attendance at all scheduled events, and encouraging your daughter to be mindful of appropriate apparel and behavior. The Delta Academy believes in upholding the highest standards for our young ladies. All parents who wish to volunteer or participate in our activities must attend a 2-hour Risk Management Workshop which is provided by our Risk Management Committee. A background check is required for all volunteers who take part in activities with the young ladies of this program. This includes all advisors, parents, and members of our sorority who volunteer to assist with activities. The cost for the background check is the responsibility of each person who volunteers for this program.
